Phosphor / Music visualizer for Mac

A music visualizer for every Mac.

Plug Phosphor into your Mac's system audio and watch any track turn into a beat-synced light show — EDM drops, lofi loops, dubstep wobbles, hip-hop, techno, classical strings, all from any app, all in real time. Float it on your desk, fill the screen, or set it as your wallpaper.

How it works

Three steps. That's it.

01

Install

Download Phosphor from the Mac App Store. Sandboxed, signed, notarized, and ~12 MB.

02

Grant audio access

One-time permission. Phosphor uses Apple's Core Audio Process Tap — the same API ScreenCaptureKit uses. No virtual driver, no kext.

03

Press play

Open any music app. Phosphor is already listening. Pick a scene, stack effects, and lean back.

Compatibility

If your Mac plays it, Phosphor sees it.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does Phosphor record what I am listening to?

No. Audio is read in-memory and never leaves your Mac. Phosphor has no analytics, no accounts, and no network calls beyond App Store update checks.

Will it work on my Intel Mac?

Phosphor is Apple Silicon only (M1 and later). It uses Metal 3 features that are not available on Intel.

Does it work with AirPods or external speakers?

Yes. Phosphor taps the system output, regardless of which device is currently selected.

What about headphone audio in DJ apps?

Phosphor visualizes whatever is routed to your main output. If you have a separate cue/headphone bus, that path will not be visualized — by design.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds via reportaproblem.apple.com. Most requests within 14 days are granted.
